This is my first fashion blog, but it has been a long time in coming.
As someone who was quite large at one time, (410 pounds) and still is not the smallest dude in the cafeteria (230 pounds), I have always had an interest in fashion, if not for just the fact that is was interesting, but it also provided an outlet for me to become more comfortable with my body image. However, the pickings out there for the big and tall guy are slim and wimpy....How do can you pull of GQ style with Casual Male offerings? So my FAXXXION posts here are going to be combinations of style tips and reviews of different options for the Big and Tall Dude.
FAXXXION is the name I chose to express three things. It's pronounced just like the word Fashion. Here's the reason why I chose the XXX in the middle.
xxx is used many times as a way to express a number that is not supposed to be seen, like when you receive a credit card statement and it says XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-1234. The numbers are there, but XXX is only holding their places. When you consider your weight as part of your current description, and not the focal point of your identity, you will be able to make some interesting fashion choices and take some risks. You are not your weight or height unless you don't develop your full self and just let your size be your defining characteristic.
XXX also usually indicates something salacious, raunchy, and too bold for young eyes. I feel that the big and tall man is often boxed in, and expected to wear things that hide their bodies and help them to blend in. I've been there, I've done that, and while wearing black at all times means you'll probably never have to worry about stains, but you'll also be just a big extra in the background in the movie of your life. You can be risky with your fashion if you know how to bend the rules. It takes a little maturity, and inhibition to do that, and XXX hints at that as well. Also, some of the things that I will have to say may seem a little forward, but I am speaking from experience, and sometimes, overt honesty is what you need with fashion. Your best friends will tell you if that shirt does not look right on you, and I will too, but I want to let you know why, and how to change that.
So I look forward to this. Let's do it BIG - faxxion......
